When Tom and Summer are sitting overlooking the city in their "spot", they come to a lot of life realizations. Tom about his, Summer about hers and both of them about their life together. It becomes a place where they both go for answers, although they individually end up being surprised by what they find about themselves, each other and love.

Photoshop and internet issues prevented me from posting earlier, but I like how this eventually turned out as a really good interpretation of the original.

Everyone, single or in a relationship, is trying to marry the expectations of what they believe love to be with the reality of life. Tom has that vision in his head. Those expectations that are preventing him from seeing the truth. Maybe the truth is just what we need.

Obviously we had a little fun with this reinterpretation of the scene from (500) Days of Summer. Daily marital reality vs. romantic expectations isn't worse, necessarily. Just different.

You can see this photo (and all shots) larger by going here and clicking on the photo directly.

The air is never dense, the sunshine is never too hot, the cold nights are only refreshing. You know that person is a whisper away. But then, in some relationships, as with Tom and Summer, you never see that pinnacle again. And there's where it tumbles down - you reach and you grab and push, trying to twist it into something it can't be and you're never quite sure it ever was.

So today's shot is that perfect moment. You're happy to be there, can't believe you ARE there, never want to be anywhere else again.

In most relationships, you meet, you share the same old stories, you talk about family and friends and current events. The whole time you're wondering what the other person is really like. It's that razor's edge between frustration and excitement, when you want to know more, but the joy is in discovering, so you really don't want it to end.

I think that's the problem that Tom runs into in the movie. There's this moment where he shares himself with Summer - really shares himself - as he writes on her arm and his dreams are all over her.

This is a shot in front of our house in Atlanta. We've been through four homes now and each one is its own dream, of sorts.
